Sara Zivian Zwickl

Sara Zivian Zwickl is a seasoned, highly skilled attorney who focuses her considerable expertise on the needs of families and individuals in need of top-notch legal representation. Sara has worked with her mother, Etta B. Zivian, since 1991. Her prior experience includes five years as a solo practitioner and four years (1982 to 1986) as a litigation associate at the Bloomfield Hills (MI) offices of Dickinson Wright LLPC.

A 1982 cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Sara also holds a B.A. in Music with High Distinction from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy. She is a trained opera singer and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Sara provides her clients with advice and representation regarding estate planning; administration of trusts and estates; guardianship and conservatorship and elder law issues. Over the years, Sara has served as a guardian and conservator for elderly clients. She believes passionately in treating them with dignity and respect.

As a practitioner of Family Law, Sara’s goal is to find practical solutions that help families live peaceful, productive lives. She handles the full range of family-related matters including prenuptial agreements, divorce, and adoption.

In addition to acting as an attorney and counselor to her clients, Sara serves as a mediator at the non-profit Oakland Mediation Center, at the Oakland County Probate Court and privately by agreement of the parties to a dispute. Her expertise as a mediator is a valuable asset to her clients who derive direct benefit from her listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Sara is a member of the Elder Law & Advocacy, Probate & Estate Planning, Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution sections of the State Bar of Michigan. Because staying up-to-date on the law is so important to her representation of clients, Sara holds a Certificate of Completion in the areas of Probate and Estate Planning from the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE). She completed the ICLE Family Law Certificate Program in September of 2009.
