Lawrence S. Katkowsky - Michigan Motorcycle Attorney
Bingham Farms, Michigan attorney Lawrence S. Katkowsky established his litigation practice in 1968. He focuses his work extensively on Michigan motorcycling issues. During his career, Mr. Katkowsky has been very active in the appeals process as well as trial practice. Through the years his litigation practice has been heavily weighted toward plaintiff-oriented actions in state and federal courts in the areas of personal injury and civil rights.
Mr. Katkowsky has been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the United States Court of Claims.
Admitted to practice in 1968, Mr. Katkowsky is a long-standing member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the A.I.M. (Aid to Injured Motorcyclists) Attorney Association and the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Judges.
Mr. Katkowsky attended Wayne State University in Detroit where he earned a Bachelors degree in History with a minor in Music in 1964 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1967. While in law school he won both the Junior Moot Court Competition and the Best Junior Brief Competition. He also served on the Moot Court Board and participated on Wayne ’s National Moot Court team.
Larry has been actively involved in the motorcycle rights movement in Michigan and nationally for more than 25 years both in the Courts and on the legislative front. Current representative clients in that regard include Abate of Michigan, Inc. and the Michigan Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs. He has extensive experience in litigation involving motorcycle safety and products issues as well as in off-road vehicle issues and has written extensively in the field.
Non-legal association memberships include the Motorcycle Riders Foundation and the American Motorcyclist Association. Mr. Katkowsky has been a certified motorcycle safety instructor since 1991 and currently plates a 1987 Harley FXRT, a 1993 Harley FLH Classic and a 2003 Harley V-Rod.
An avid guitarist and singer on the side, Michigan motorcycle lawyer, Mr. Katkowsky and his wife Natalie live in Huntington Woods, Michigan.
